Renee Nilges is
an award-winning artist who grew up seeking adventure and loving the
outdoors. Her artwork is created from her intuitive nature and sense of
humor. This gives her an uncanny ability to capture personality and to
strike a chord deep seeded in so many people. From landscape to
portraits, she creates from the heart. When asked how long she's been
painting, she responds, "Art has been a part of my life for as long as
I can remember." She has been self-employed as a freelance artist,
selling her paintings and commissioned work since 1998.
While
she has a background in commercial art, she is mostly self taught in
fine art. She continues to learn and gain inspiration by taking
workshops as well as instructing them. She has been teaching an ongoing
oil painting class since 2002.
Her graphite portraits, oil
paintings and watercolor paintings are in private and corporate
collections all over the nation and abroad. One of her paintings sold
at the art auction for The Miller Performing Arts Center in Jefferson
City, Missouri. It brought a price large enough to award her name on a
gold plaque, which remains a permanent fixture of the building.
Her
work is sold to collectors at juried and invitational shows, as well as
through her website and galleries. Limited edition and open edition
prints, as well as cards made from Renee's original paintings and
drawings are in regular demand. Her work continues to receive awards
and recognition and grow in popularity.
Renee lives among the
rolling hills in central Missouri with her husband and three kids. "The
most important things to me are God, my family and friends, and
creating art. "To experience what she paints she often travels.
"Traveling helps to keep my mind open. I only like to paint where I've
been or what I can identify with truthfully. My goal is to share my
vision of the world with others through my work."
